Candles Spiced-Up!

                            P1170236
I love candles!  I mean I really love them.  My husband suggests that it’s a borderline obsession.Surprised smileThere’s just something so comforting about a room full of lighted candles on a chilly evening.  But some of the more unique candles also have a rather “unique” price to go with them;  So I thought why not get creative with some of my boring candles and spice them up for my home.
                            P1170232
This project is quite easy to do.  All I did was hot glue cinnamon sticks around the candle and tie a burnt orange ribbon and raffia on top of that and then made a layered paper flower and glued it to the raffia.  So simple and yet so cute!  This little craft can be modified to suit a wide variety of tastes, styles and occasions.
I hope you try it out for yourself!

Card for Sale!

P1170483
So it’s official.  I have a shop up and running on Etsy!  Today I put my first card up for sale.  It’s a beautiful Thanksgiving Card, just in time for the holiday in the states.  Check it out in The Preacher's Wife Crafts & Gifts or click on my “Shop” tab at the top of the page.

  P1170472

I’ve included the description from my shop:
This card was inspired by fall. It has layered cardstock in textured olive green and burnt orange colors, and a very detailed hand-colored 3D pumpkin drawing. You'll love the attention to detail on the pumpkins with the added subtle sparkle and the stained, mini clothes pins. "Happy Thanks Giving " is embossed on the front in bronze, with a hand-tied, green, ribbon bow added above with a brad. The inside is simply stamped with two leaves and the rest is left blank for your thoughts to your loved ones. The card has a coordinating envelope that has a stamped and hand-colored pumpkin in the bottom corner.

I do hope you’ll stop by my shop to visit and please know that this is the first item of many to come! (ps.  I’m also interested in special orders so if there’s something you have in mind please let me know and I’d be happy to help Winking smile)

Autumn Napkin Rings

Picture12

It’s almost Thanksgiving here in Canada and, like I promised in my last post, I have some napkin rings to add some fall flair to your dinner table.  You can also see these napkin rings in a table setting at Leia's Culinary Treasures, my mothers fabulous blog.  While these particular ones are for autumn, you can vary this project for all sorts of occasions.  I hope you enjoy making these for your holiday feast.

Pumpkin Patch

Picture11
I hope you enjoy this little project of mine.  I must admit this wasn’t my idea.  A friend of mine made a version of this little creation and brought them to my house for Thanksgiving Dinner.  I thought they were so adorable that I just had to figure out how to make them.  Luckily I was successful and now I have my own Pumpkin Place Holders.   Good thing too because Thanksgiving in Canada is only a few weeks away.  In fact, my mother, over at Leia's Culinary Treasures, has posted wonderful advice and recipes for Thanksgiving.  She has so much to share that she has cleverly created an entire Hostess Survival Guide to help one get through the holiday.  You can even see my little name holders in action there, oh and there are some napkin rings there too, but that’s for my next post Winking smile.

Well lets get to it.  Pumpkin Rings Tutorial

Wedding Time

I love summers, but it seems there’s always something that needs to be done, and always someplace that I need to be, with little to no time left just to relax and enjoy the summer.  And so here I am, on a chilly morning, a nice reminder that my glorious summer is coming to an end, and I’m given a chance to reflect on all that’s happened….and as it turns out this summer has actually been nice and long and we’ve done plenty.  Perhaps it wasn’t as relaxing as I would prefer but it was exciting.  Warm days started in May back in Michigan, and Hot days started in June so we’ve had plenty of sunshine, even got to the beach a few times (as you can tell from my last post);  we moved up to Alberta, Canada and we’ve had fantastic weather almost non-stop since we got here at the beginning of the month.  Our friends actually had a outdoor wedding, (which here in our city is somewhat unheard of, the weather is usually unpredictable) and it was a gorgeous day.  Which brings me to the subject of my post today.  Wedding Cards.

Picture1
It’s not often that I get to make a wedding card and so I was really excited to get the chance to use some of my ideas. Most of my scrap stuff was still packed at this point so I used my computer and stuff my mom had such as the butterfly punch. I love that little punch, I may swipe it when she’s not looking! Winking smile  You can’t really tell from the picture but I used a bit of flocking powder on a couple of the background butterflies.  I found the silhouette online at shutterstock.com. I thought it resembled the couple

The corners are punched with the scalloped ‘around the page’ punch set from Martha Stewart.  I inked the edges of the inside of the other half of the card to the punch would stand out more.  The little jewels that you see on the butterflies, and as accents of the card are actually silver Stickles.  I love Stickles!  Nothing else I’ve tried is like it.
I hope you enjoyed my card as much as I enjoyed making it!  I’d love to hear comments and see any projects that you’ve done.
Until Next Time, Happy Scrapping!

My Beach Baby

Picture1
It’s been a long time since I’ve had any new posts.  My hubby, son and I just moved from the US to Canada this last week and my scrapping and paper crafting life was put on hold and as a result my blog was neglected.  My scrapping things are still packed up (quite sad) but I did have a little bit of time to get a ‘digi’ page done.
I put together this page of pictures of my little guy enjoying the beach for the last time before we moved.  He was having a fabulous time exploring the shore and my hubby got some pretty good pics of him.
Little Explorer
I took these page elements from all over the place.  Just as with paper scrapping, I take bits and pieces from different sources and mix them all together.  I’ll list them here and try to be as accurate as possible so you can make some pages too.
